Profile
I have spent the last 25 years in the IT industry. The first ten as a hardware design engineer and the last fifteen in software development. The last eight I have been involved in developing Internet based software solutions (please see below). I have also been jointly running BIS/bis-zone.com since 1997. Work has included marketing and promotion of the business; accounts activities; Web development work on client sites.

Icecat.biz contains most of the major electronic companies product details. I developed a daily overnight process to update a central database of new product details. Built several versions to allow user to create product databases relevant to their departments. These fitted into a new online procurement system for a large blue chip company supplying the MOD

Lead Web developer on http://www.completetravel.co.uk - asp.net xml soap
Added xml streams to a web based holiday search where various streams of xml are combined and then displayed to the user. Asp.net backend called from asp pages based using soap 1.2 ,2.0 and xml. Uses feeds from Hotels.com and various online suppliers of holiday data. Uses threads to connect to the xml feeds and then merges the data into a results list and html page displayed to the customer. Also creates raw feeds to update internal database systems. Uses asp.net and vb.net front page in classic asp connects to asp.net back end
Built music PC interface using USB interface - asm, C++,VB,C# sql2005 to create midi pedal using PIC 16f2550 and then a program to interface with the pic ic to send midi data to PC software musical instruments.
Software used Visual Studio 2005 .net 2.0 and SQL server
Developed www.findmeamilkman.net for DairyUK - Milk Industry Government Organisation.
Site integrates several sites plus local database of independent dairies using VS2005 and sql server.
Anyone can go online and find a milkman in their postcode area.

Manage and continue to develop the DVLA Websites relating to the web portal for the registration of new vehicles and the destruction of old cars. Responsible for the day-day 3rd line support of the Automated First Registration and Licensing (AFRL-DVLA) NOD/COD web sites.
This requires communicating with the customer on hardware and software problems that arise on a daily basis. Also provided 24/7 out of hours support.
Having created modifications I was also responsible for creating test scripts in test director and winrunner and release documentation.
This is a multi tier system with daily batch process communicating with a unix mainframe system. This is a web portal system for car manufacturers, e.g. Suzuki, Seat, MitsuBIS/bis-zone.comhi and various other car manufacturers and dealers.
Communicate with the hardware engineers on improving and maintaining the daily batch processes.
Added Imports functionality to the DVLA portal
Added Certificate of Destruction (Used by scrappers to scrap vehicle) to the DVLA portal
Updated the Admin functionality of the DVLA portal.
